COME DISCOVER WHY WE SAY

“IT’S IN OUR NATURE!”

The park is a camper’s escape, a fisherman’s paradise, a paddler’s grand adventure, and a hiker’s dream. Visitors may escape the mundane and experience nature in comfort at the River Ridge Campground in one of the cabins or RV sites provided. Visitors may cool off in the gently flowing Flint River, skip rocks across the water, and have a picnic along the river’s edge or by the playground. There is also a boat ramp in the day use area, making it a breeze for paddlers to access the river. With 12+ miles of trails winding throughout the park, visitors may take a long or short hike, run, or stroll along the riverbank or up the rocky bluffs. Bird watching enthusiasts may spot tanagers, warblers, osprey, woodpeckers, and bald eagles along the river or nesting in the cliffs and forest edge.

The Flint River is one of only 40 rivers in the U.S. to go undammed for more than 200 miles, keeping the water fresh and the fish plentiful. The State’s official riverine sport fish, the shoal bass, calls this area of the river and its rocky shoals home. These shoals allow fishermen to wade the river with ease, making this area of the Flint excellent for fly fishing. Be sure to stop by the Trading Post for souvenirs, supplies, and additional information on the park or upcoming events held throughout the year. Come find out why we say it’s in our nature!
